Photomodulation is a new treatment technique. Also it is known as LED therapy. It is a technique that uses cold light to deeply rehydrate and tone the skin.
It is also performed to repair skin damaged by laser, peeling and sun damage. What is good about this technique is the fact that it is able to take care of large areas and regardless of the season: face, neck, hands, scalp, etc.
The penetration of the rays of light, emitted by the LED lamp, into the different layers of the skin, depends on their wavelength, i.e. their color. There are 4 colors: red, blue, yellow and green. Depending on the chosen color and its intensity, the light penetrates the skin and acts directly on the cells by stimulating their collagen and elastin fiber synthesis activities.
The effects are directly dependent on the chosen color and therefore on the wavelength used:
- Red light: This is the visible color that penetrates deepest into the skin. It will stimulate the fibroblasts of the skin and thus increase the production of collagen and elastin responsible for the firmness of the skin.
- Blue light: It attacks the bacteria found in acne pimples.
- Yellow light: It calms redness. It improves blood and lymphatic circulation and thus has a draining, anti-oedema effect. In the treatment of hair loss, yellow light stimulates hair regrowth.
- Green light: It acts on the radiance of the complexion by reducing pigment spots.
