Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery, is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. However, it is important to understand that plastic surgery is not just limited to surgical procedures. But also includes non-surgical options, such as medical treatments. In the following paragraphs, we will explore the difference between surgical and non-surgical plastic surgery in detail, highlighting their benefits, specific uses, and expected results. Whether you want to reshape your nose or explore non-invasive alternatives, our team of experts is here to guide you down the path to self-esteem and personal satisfaction.

SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY

SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY IS AESTHETIC NOSE SURGERY

It requires an intimate knowledge not only of the external aesthetic characteristics, but also of the internal anatomy of the nose. This surgical procedure can correct a bump, a deviation, an excessively long appearance of the nose, or even a drooping tip. It can sometimes also improve breathing by treating the septum of the nose.

The surgeon must make the necessary corrections while taking into account the healing process and how the final result will materialize several months later. Every rhinoplasty requires the surgeon to use all of their technical skills, knowledge and experience to create a lasting, beautiful and natural result.

Rhinoplasty aims to restore the harmony of the nose and rebalance the proportions of the face. The goal is to obtain a result and a natural look for your nose. The principle is to reshape the bone and cartilage that make up the infrastructure of the nose. The skin covering the nose will have to readapt and redrape thanks to its elasticity.

This cosmetic surgery also aims to correct a functional problem that interferes with breathing: nasal obstruction, deviation of the septum, hypertrophy of the turbinates, problem of nasal valves… All these anomalies are detected during the consultation by an examination of the nose and additional examinations (scanner, rhinomanometry, etc.). It requires general anesthesia and a stay in a clinic, usually one night is enough.

Our plastic surgeon Dr Aimadeddine Souad is highly skilled in performing:

Conservative rhinoplasty or preservation rhinoplasty: the most recent surgical technique most requested by our patients.
Secondary rhinoplasties: they are operated elsewhere and with an unsatisfactory appearance for the patients and which generally require the removal of costal cartilage to rebuild a solid framework of the nose.

In our cosmetic surgery center in Marrakech we use ultrasonic surgery by piezotome which allows a high precision of the lines of osteotomies.

The nose surgery procedure is relatively painless, but prevents the patient from being able to breathe through the nose for the first few days because of the wicks. Swelling and bruising of varying size and duration may be observed on the patient’s eyelids.

In general, the locks are removed after 1 to 3 days, while the splint is removed (or replaced) after 5 to 10 days. The nose remains swollen for several weeks and the stigma of the procedure gradually fades over time. The face should be protected from direct sunlight as long as bruising persists. The resumption of sport and intense activities is possible after about 3 months.

MEDICAL SOLUTION

Medical rhinoplasty is a non-permanent modification of the nose. Some aesthetic irregularities of the nose can be correcting and reshaping without surgery, with simple injections of hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin. It has been the subject of a real craze in recent years, because of its speed and its reversible nature.

Medical rhinoplasty corrects the defects of the nose (small bump, asymmetry, deviated nose, etc.) with two injectable and resorbable products: hyaluronic acid, which gives volume and lasts between 12 to 18 months, and botulinum toxin, which will freeze certain muscles that interfere with the aesthetics of the nose, for at least 6 months. For the result to last longer, patients must therefore return to their cosmetic surgeon once a year on average. The advantage is that you can decide to stop whenever you want.

Its objectives and techniques vary:
  • Reshape the nose: mainly with fillers.
  • Correct nose wrinkles: exclusively with botulinum toxin or botox.
  • Raise the tip of the nose by botox.
Its advantages are as follows:
  • Immediate result with fillers including hyaluronic acid.
  • Reversible result by resorption of the injected product.
  • Very good tolerance of injected products.
  • Good approach to rhinoplasty for the patient who is afraid of having surgery, and wants to get an idea of the possible changes in the shape of his nose.
  • Possibility of adaptation over time of the correction of defects of the nose, according to aging.

Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, it requires neither local anesthesia nor general anesthesia but only the application of an anesthetic cream to the injected area.

The hyaluronic acid that will be use must adapte to the patient. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes. Most of the time, it lasts between 10 and 15 minutes. If the correction is important, it is preferable to proceed in several sessions. This will allow to obtain a harmonious result and avoid complications due to an excess of product.

The result is visible immediately. It is often very impressive.
